Holy Cross Catholic School Digital Learning Agreement
What is a Digital Learning Environment (DLE)?
A Digital Learning Environment (DLE) is a student-centered framework where opportunities for learning and access to educational resources are available anytime, anywhere. Components include:
Student Expectations in a Digital Learning Environment
In a DLE, students are expected to comply with all school rules, policies, and teacher directives when using their Chromebooks. Expectations include, but are not limited to:
TWO OPTIONS FOR THE CURRENT SCHOOL YEAR:
2. Chromebook is brought home every night.
Responsible Use - Students are bound by all rules of this Digital Learning Agreement regardless of where they use their Chromebooks and regardless of the source of the Internet connection.
End of the School Year - Chromebooks will be returned to the School at the end of each school year. Students will be issued the same Chromebook the following school year. The Chromebook and accessories must be in good working order when returned. If the Chromebook and accessories are not returned, the parent/guardian will be held responsible for payment in full. Caring for Your Chromebook
Students are responsible for the general care and protection of the Chromebook they have been issued. The School is not responsible for the safekeeping and protection of student issued Chromebooks.
Damaged or malfunctioning Chromebooks must be taken promptly to the Technology Coordinator and reported for repair. If a loaner Chromebook is needed, one may be issued to the student until their Chromebook can be repaired or replaced (subject to loaner availability). Do not take School-owned Chromebooks to outside computer services for any type of repairs or maintenance. Do not attempt to repair damaged or malfunctioning Chromebooks yourself.
General Precautions
Screen Care
The Chromebook screen can be damaged if subjected to heavy objects, rough treatment, certain cleaning solvents, and other liquids. The screens are particularly sensitive to damage from excessive pressure.
Digital Citizenship
School-issued Chromebooks are intended for educational purposes. Students must adhere to this Digital Learning Agreement as well as related policies and procedures at all times when using Chromebooks, on or off campus.
Students should always conduct themselves as good digital citizens by adhering to the following:
Chromebook Use, Support, & Protection Fee
The Chromebook Use, Support, & Protection Fee provides students with technology hardware, infrastructure, support, and protection against damage, loss, or theft:
The above Annual Fee is a user fee only. Use of the School-issued Chromebook is a privilege and not a right. By implementing a Digital Learning Environment, and authorizing the use of School-owned Chromebooks, the School does not intend to relinquish control over the Chromebooks. Student users should not have any expectation of privacy in the content of files on the Chromebooks.
As a learner, I agree that I will:
Protect my Chromebook by carrying it securely in my School-issued protective sleeve and prevent careless or malicious damage.
I understand that any violation of this agreement may result in the suspension or loss of my Chromebook and school network privileges. Additionally, I may face disciplinary action for such violations.
I understand that my family’s responsibilities include:
In consideration of the privileges and opportunities afforded by the use of Holy Cross Catholic School technology resources, I hereby release Holy Cross Catholic School, its employees, and officers from any and all claims of any nature arising from my child’s use or inability to use these resources.
I also understand that it is impossible for Holy Cross Catholic School to restrict access to all controversial materials and I will not hold the School responsible for materials accessed with a School Chromebook.
I accept full responsibility for my child’s use of the Chromebook and understand that my child’s Chromebook use is subject to the same rules and requirements when used off-campus. I understand that my child’s Chromebook privileges may be suspended or revoked for violation of this Digital Learning Agreement.
I understand that if my child transfers, withdraws, or is expelled from Holy Cross Catholic School prior to the end of the school year, the School Chromebook and accessories must be returned upon termination of enrollment. If the Chromebook and accessories are not returned, or in good working order, the parent/guardian will be held responsible for payment in full.
