Holy Cross Catholic School Digital Learning Agreement
What is a Digital Learning Environment (DLE)?
A Digital Learning Environment (DLE) is a student-centered framework where opportunities for learning and access to educational resources are available anytime, anywhere. Components include:
21st Century Skills - communication, collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking
Digital Curriculum - learning management system (Google Classroom), web-based resources, etc.
Mobile Devices - wifi laptop or tablet with battery-life of 6+ hours
Personalized Learning - using an abundance of resources & assessment data to customize learning
Student Expectations in a Digital Learning Environment
In a DLE, students are expected to comply with all school rules, policies, and teacher directives when using their iPads. Expectations include, but are not limited to:
Caring for Your iPad
General Precautions
Screen Care
The iPad screen can be damaged if subjected to heavy objects, rough treatment, certain cleaning solvents, and other liquids. The screens are particularly sensitive to damage from excessive pressure.
Digital Citizenship
School-issued iPads are intended for educational purposes. Students must adhere to this Digital Learning Agreement as well as related policies and procedures at all times when using iPads. Students should always conduct themselves as good digital citizens.
iPad Use, Support, & Protection Fee
The iPad Use, Support, & Protection Fee provides students with technology hardware, infrastructure, support, and protection against damage, loss, or theft:
The above Annual Fee is a user fee only. Use of the School-issued iPad is a privilege and not a right. By implementing a Digital Learning Environment, and authorizing the use of School-owned iPads, the School does not intend to relinquish control over the iPads.
As a learner, I agree that I will:
Protect my iPad by carrying it securely in my School-issued protective case and prevent careless or malicious damage.
I understand that any violation of this agreement may result in the suspension or loss of my iPad and school network privileges. Additionally, I may face disciplinary action for such violations.
I understand that my family’s responsibilities include:
In consideration of the privileges and opportunities afforded by the use of Holy Cross Catholic School technology resources, I hereby release Holy Cross Catholic School, its employees, and officers from any and all claims of any nature arising from my child’s use or inability to use these resources.
I also understand that it is impossible for Holy Cross Catholic School to restrict access to all controversial materials and I will not hold the School responsible for materials accessed with a School iPad.
I accept full responsibility for my child’s use of the iPad and understand that my child’s iPad privileges may be suspended or revoked for violation of this Digital Learning Agreement. I understand that if my child transfers, withdraws, or is expelled from Holy Cross Catholic School prior to the end of the school year, the School iPad and accessories are not returned to the school in good working order, the parent/guardian will be held responsible for payment in full.
