My name is Nancy Heinen, and I have been teaching at Holy Cross Catholic School for twenty years. I have had experience teaching all grades from Kindergarten through eight grade. This is my seventeenth year teaching third grade. As you may have guessed, I really enjoy working with third graders. I love to see them grow and become independent learners.
I attended the University of Minnesota and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Education. In 2001 I joined a cohort through the Murray Institute and earned my Masters degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of St. Thomas. I have also been trained in the Orton-Gillingham method of instruction for reading, spelling, and writing.
I am married and have two grown sons with families of their own. My four grandchildren are definitely my pride and joy. My husband and I enjoy following their activities and studies.
Learning has always been an important part of my life. My greatest hope is that your 3rd grader will leave my classroom with an appreciation for the wonders of the amazing life God has given them, as well as a lifelong love for learning.
